During the period of Internship training, College and School Practice, University supervisors visit the students on a regular basis in their different organizations where they are attached. And these students have Field supervisors who mentor them into the world of work.
It is an opportunity for students to find jobs as they do an Internship because some good students are retained after the Internship period. Dr. Kasumba calls Internship, College and School Practice the bridge to cross over from the University to the world of work. Students gain more experience and it is a tool to Market the University.
The Academic Registrar urges students to be Ambassadors of the University wherever they will be. And asks them to give it attention it deserves because it will appear on their transcript.
The Academic Registrar Kyambogo University Dr. Anne Begumisa has advised students to take Internship, College and School Practice as a normal Academic activity that is examined.
As the Academic year 2018/2019 ends, students are expected to go for their Internship in different organizations, whereas those being trained to be secondary school teachers go for School Practice and the Tutors go for College Practice. The purpose of this is to enable students have hands on experience in the world of work.
According to Dr. Stephen Kasumba, the Dean, School of Management (SOME), this year has had the biggest number of students going for Internship training, College and School practice because most programs now have Internship. He said Internship ranges from 6 to 8 weeks depending on the program.
Dr. Kasumba said Internship exposes students to real work environment and prepares them to have the right work attitude.
